The Team

At Tommy Hilfiger, our Product Innovation team is transforming fashion by breaking conventions and accelerating progress to deliver fashion for good. By partnering with vendors, innovators, start-ups and our internal business divisions, we develop new materials, products and consumer experiences that unlock fresh value for the brand and drive sustainable change through collaboration, consumer centricity and experimentation, bringing excitement to the brand while making a positive impact.

The Position

This role is responsible for the oversight, project management, execution, and delivery of the innovation pipeline, from concept-to-consumer for all divisions.

The Senior Specialist will own advanced ideation projects, including material developments, product and process solutions which are known to the brand, unknown to the brand, and unknown to the industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Support and Develop commercially viable material solutions to support divisions on the design and supply chain solutions

  • Support in identifying and validating potential impactful innovation ideas that are volume driven, profit seeking, and long-term focused

  • Acts as support between Divisions and Innovation Team to foster integration and collaboration on both prompted and unprompted innovation

  • Research and support for advanced ideation projects, including product and process solutions which are known to the brand, unknown to the brand, and unknown to the industry

  • Develop Analysis & Research in upcoming fields of innovation to inform and share across team and organisation

  • Support the management of the Product innovation roadmap, portfolio, and pipeline

  • Support and project manage the process – including, but not limited to, go to market checklist, briefing requirements, adoption milestones, seasonal kick off meeting, design/vendor meetings and calendar

  • Project status reporting to sponsors, stakeholders, and leadership

  • Stay abreast of worldwide market conditions and developments in the global innovation space

  • Interface with raw materials, design, technical design, to provide support during the pre-production and production processes

New Concept Product Development

  • Work with third party partners to develop new concepts in textile and multi-function product lines to solve product brief

  • Manage Proto sample process, including fit, wear, validation, re-sample, and support approval for SMS and Production

  • Test and Validate; Test materials, samples, and Protos against all existing physical properties performance standards with factory and third party testing.

  • Run any required field and wear trials and compile/report data back

Sourcing

  • Work both within and outside the strategic supply chain vendor base

  • Stay abreast of worldwide market conditions and developments in the global innovation space

  • Interface with raw materials, design, technical design, to provide support during the pre-production and production processes

The Ideal Candidate ​:

This role requires an ambidextrous thinker, distinctively strong in project management, as well as material development and innovation. This is a unique role that requires a blend of ‘left-brain’ and ‘right-brain’ skills and interests, as you marry strategic rigor and an innovator’s ‘knows-no-boundaries’ creativity in order to engineer and cross pollenate multi-industry disciplines, know-how, and technical best practices to develop disruptive, industry changing products.

Success for this role will be delivering product innovation solutions to the divisions.

  • 3-4 years in experience in Product Development with expertise in Textile Development creation

  • Knowledge in technical textiles, garment construction, raw materials, trim, production and manufacturing, trade, supplier, and vendor market knowledge

  • Project management and the ability to influence

  • Demonstrated success supporting projects in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work fast paced and strategically

  • Thorough understanding of physical properties testing a must

  • Must have experience with production countries

  • Are both creative and analytical

  • Are able to execute at speed while keeping the big picture in mind

  • Are excited about learning new things and you are even more passionate about sharing these with others

  • Can build strong relationships with stakeholders
